Xi Jinping pointed out that this year's "International Forum of the Capital" was held at the time when the Chinese people celebrated the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. Over the past 40 years, China’s development has made tremendous achievements, and people’s lives have been greatly improved, from shortages to abundances, from poverty to well-off.

Xi Jinping emphasized that China's reform and opening up is centered on the people. To achieve more balanced and fuller development, we must further deepen reform and expand openness. At the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Meeting in April this year, I announced a series of major initiatives to broaden market opening, create a more attractive investment environment, strengthen intellectual property protection, and actively expand imports. China successfully hosted the first China International Import Expo, and at the opening ceremony, I announced an important new initiative to expand and open up.
