According to customs statistics, China's total import and export in the first three quarters was 22.28 trillion yuan, up 9.9% year-on-year.Exports were 11.86 trillion yuan, up 6.5%.Imports were 10.42 trillion yuan, up 14.1 percent.The surplus was 1.44 trillion yuan, shrinking by 28.3 percent.
Song xianmao, deputy director-general of the department of foreign trade at the ministry of commerce, said China's import and export growth was higher than that of other major economies, including the United States, Germany and Japan, and the average growth rate, according to the latest world trade organization import and export data for the january-august period.
In the first three quarters of this year, China's exports to emerging markets have maintained rapid growth while consolidating its traditional markets, and the international market has been further optimized, it said.Exports to the brics and One Belt And One Road countries grew by 9.7 percent and 7.7 percent, respectively, 3.2 percentage points and 1.2 percentage points higher than the average growth rate of exports.
Import growth in the first three quarters was significant.China's imports grew 14.1 percent in the first three quarters, contributing 64.2 percent to the growth of imports and exports, and becoming the main driving force for the growth of foreign trade this year.The import of cosmetics, fruits and dried fruit, which are closely related to people's livelihood, increased by 75.1 percent and 30.2 percent, respectively.
In terms of domestic regional layout, exports from the central and western regions rose by 13.0% to 1.95 trillion yuan in the first three quarters of this year, 6.5 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate.From the perspective of commodity structure, exports of mechanical and electrical products reached 6.91 trillion yuan, an increase of 7.8%, accounting for an increase of 0.7 percentage points to 58.3%.From the perspective of major trade players, China's private enterprises exported 5.68 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.6 percent, accounting for 1.4 percentage points to 47.9 percent, and continue to maintain the largest export operation status.
With the continuous improvement of the business environment for the development of new forms of foreign trade, China's cross-border e-commerce and market procurement trade has maintained rapid growth this year on the basis of two consecutive years of rapid growth, which has become a new highlight in the growth of foreign trade.
