The Commerce Department welcomed the us invitation to resume negotiations

China and the United States trade outlet in the dialogue consultation

Opposition to America's unilateral initiation of trade conflicts is growing.More than 90 percent of more than 300 stakeholders, including the United States and China, opposed the imposition of tariffs on Chinese goods during a hearing by the U.S. trade representative's office on tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods.

What's more, a u.s.-led trade war has failed to narrow China's trade surplus, and trade growth has slowed from a year earlier.China's exports to the United States and imports grew at 6.5 percent and 4.4 percent, respectively, in the first eight months of this year, with a trade surplus of 1.24 trillion yuan expanding by 7.7 percent, according to data released by the general administration of customs."" we do not want to see the sound development momentum of bilateral trade between China and the us weakened by unilateral protectionist measures by the us." "Gao said that if the U.S. side instigates trade frictions, it will of course have a negative impact on china-us trade.Furthermore, gao stressed that the us side should realize that unilateral measures to levy tariffs cannot solve the problem.China and the United States should take pragmatic measures and work together to promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral trade.

As for the us's plan to impose tariffs on us $200 billion worth of Chinese goods, gao pointed out that the us's unilateral imposition of tariffs will ultimately hurt the interests of both Chinese and American people and people around the world.Despite the calls from the industry and consumers, the us side keeps releasing information that may lead to the escalation of sino-us trade frictions. Such blackmail and pressure will not help China and will not help resolve the issue. It is hoped that the us side will follow public opinion and take pragmatic measures to put china-us economic and trade relations back on track through dialogue and consultation on an equal and honest basis.

Recently, it was revealed that mnuchin has sent an invitation to the Chinese team to send a ministerial-level delegation to the new round of trade talks. In response, gao said that the china-us economic and trade consultation team has been maintaining various forms of communication recently. The two sides have exchanged views on issues of mutual concern.China believes that escalation of trade conflicts is not in the interests of either side.

Trade liberalization is still an inevitable trend

As the United States continues to push for increased trade frictions, China filed a trade retaliation warrant application at the world trade organization on Sept. 9 for its anti-dumping measures against the United States.According to gao, the wto has already ruled that all 13 anti-dumping measures against China by the United States violate wto rules. But the United States did not take any concrete action to enforce the ruling.Applying for the authorization of retaliation is China's legitimate right under wto rules.

Gao stressed that China urges the United States to respect wto rules and rulings, take effective measures to correct abuses of trade remedy measures and honor its international obligations in good faith."At present, economic globalization and trade liberalization remain the general trend of world economic development."Gao pointed out that promoting the construction of free trade zones with relevant countries is an important part of China's opening up and building an open world economy.China is ready to explore the building of free trade zones with more willing countries and actively promote regional economic integration. At the same time, China, together with most countries, will continue to firmly defend the rules-based multilateral trading system, maintain the free trade order and the security of the global industrial chain, and promote the development of economic globalization to a higher level and broader fields.
